Met Gala 2026 celebrity co-chairs announced: Beyoncé and more

Beyoncé Takes the Spotlight as Met Gala 2026 Celebrity Co-Chair: Discover the Star-Studded Lineup

Let the excitement build as the Met Gala reveals its co-chairs for this year’s much-anticipated event!

True to tradition, the selected co-chairs perfectly align with the exhibition’s theme, proving once again that the Met Gala never misses a beat when it comes to style and relevance.

Joining forces with Condé Nast’s iconic Anna Wintour, the spotlight will shine on an extraordinary trio at the helm of this May’s Costume Institute celebration: the legendary Beyoncé, the elegant Nicole Kidman, and the trailblazing Venus Williams.

This announcement follows November’s reveal of this year’s exhibition theme, “Costume Art,” which will be unveiled at the Costume Institute’s new permanent galleries within The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Andrew Bolton, the curator at the institute, shared his enthusiasm with Vogue, stating, “It’s a monumental moment for the Costume Institute. It promises to be transformative not just for our department, but for the fashion world at large—highlighting how a prestigious art museum like The Met is dedicating a prime space to fashion.”

After the gala, which traditionally kicks off the first Monday in May, the inaugural exhibit will open to the public, focusing on “the central role of the dressed body within the museum’s extensive collection.”

As for this year’s co-chairs, each one boasts true icon status when it comes to fashion.

Co-chair or not, this marks Beyoncé’s first appearance at the event in a decade. She was last photographed on the museum’s epic stairway in 2016 at the Manus x Machina-themed event.

Kidman and Williams, on the other hand, have been regulars at the major gala for years.

Just last year, Kidman honored fashion history by wearing a re-creation of a 1952 Balenciaga gown.

At the same event, Williams chose to pay homage to her roots with a high-fashion version of courtside style, designed by Lacoste.

In everything that they wear, on and off the stage and court, all three women use couture to celebrate the body. They also use their influence to champion the designers they choose to wear.

As such, they exemplify the coming exhibit’s theme completely. Each co-chair is a perfect choice for paying tribute to fashion’s rightful place in this historic house of art and history.
