Authorities have discovered bones during the latest manhunt for fugitive father Travis Decker, the main suspect sought in the killings of his three young daughters.
The two-day search of campsites near Leavenworth, Washington, involving over 100 FBI agents and local law enforcement, ended on Tuesday, delivering the first significant breakthrough in a nationwide pursuit that has captivated the public since early summer, according to Fox 13 Seattle. Decker, an Army veteran with significant survival training, has evaded capture for three months.
Authorities have been looking for Decker since June 2, when he did not bring his daughters – Paityn, 9, Evelyn, 8, and Olivia, 5 – back to their mother following a scheduled visit. The children’s bodies were subsequently found near Rock Island Campground along Icicle Creek with bags over their heads. Autopsies found that the children died due to suffocation, with their deaths ruled as homicides.
Although the initial evaluations couldn’t confirm if the bones were human, they were sent for forensic examination to Central Washington University’s anthropology department to ascertain any possible connection to the search for Decker, Fox 13 stated.
Travis Decker is suspected of killing his three young daughters and leaving their bodies at the foot of a hill at a Washington state campsite.
So far, authorities have searched 247 acres in three major sweeps, Fox 13 reported.
Chelan County Sheriff Mike Morrison mentioned to the station that further campground and trail closures are probable as investigators continue to widen their search operations.

Another large-scale search, coordinated with federal partners, is planned for September, the outlet added, citing the sheriff.
