Authorities swiftly responded to a shooting incident near downtown Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, close to the Farragut Metro Station and just a short walk from the White House.

According to two sources speaking with Fox News, two members of the National Guard were injured in the shooting, which occurred roughly a mile from the White House. The current condition of the injured guardsmen has not yet been disclosed.

The DC Metro Police have confirmed that they have apprehended a suspect in connection with the incident.

As a precautionary measure, the White House was placed under lockdown following the shooting. President Trump was not present at the White House at the time of the incident.

Reports indicate that Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel have been briefed on the situation and are being kept informed with ongoing updates.
