Quarterback Brock Purdy is set to make his return to the San Francisco 49ers lineup.
In a recent interview on “49ers Game Plan,” head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed that Purdy will be back as the starting quarterback for the team’s upcoming game against the Arizona Cardinals, as reported by NBC Sports Bay Area on Thursday.
This marks Purdy’s first appearance since September 28, when he exacerbated a turf toe injury during a defeat against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Throughout his recovery, Purdy has shown significant progress, and Shanahan dismissed any speculation of a potential quarterback controversy.
While Mac Jones has been filling in during Purdy’s absence, Shanahan was unequivocal about Purdy’s role as the primary quarterback once healthy. He made this clear during a conversation with reporters on Wednesday.
“The decision is straightforward,” Shanahan stated. “It’s all about Brock’s health. Mac has performed admirably, and he’s been a great asset, but we have immense confidence in Brock. We fully expect him to perform at a high level once he’s back on the field.”
During two games this season, Purdy completed 48 passes for 586 yards and four touchdowns, while also throwing four interceptions.

Jones has made eight starts for the 49ers this season and has helped them go 5-3, also dealing with injury issues himself.
He threw for 319 yards and three touchdowns in their 42-26 loss to the Rams last weekend.

The 49ers are in the middle of a three-way battle for the lead in the NFC West, with the Seahawks and Rams sitting ahead of them with 7-2 records.
