In a courtroom in Riverside, California, Rebecca Haro faced a judge on Tuesday, where she entered a plea of not guilty to the murder charge concerning her missing 7-month-old son, Emmanuel Haro. The mother, hailing from Cabazon, appeared solemn as her attorney sought to shield her from media scrutiny.
The case took a significant turn earlier in the month when Emmanuel’s father, Jake Haro, admitted guilt to second-degree murder, as well as assault causing bodily harm to a child and filing a false report, a misdemeanor. This plea has placed both parents at the center of a tragic case that has drawn significant public attention.
Rebecca Haro’s legal journey is set to continue in the new year, with a felony settlement conference scheduled for January. Her court appearances are being closely watched, as the community remains hopeful for answers regarding Emmanuel’s disappearance.
Despite the legal proceedings, the mystery of Emmanuel’s whereabouts persists, as no new developments have emerged about the location of his body. The young boy was reported missing on August 14, a date that marked the beginning of a heartbreaking saga that led to the arrest of both parents.
No new information came to light regarding the whereabouts of the missing baby’s body.
Emmanuel was reported missing on Aug. 14. His parents were arrested in connection with the baby’s death.
Jake and Rebecca Haro were taken into custody in August after a multi-agency investigation into the disappearance and presumed death of their son.
It began Aug. 14, when Rebecca said she was attacked and the baby kidnapped in a Big 5 parking lot in Yucaipa.
Questions were raised after authorities said there were inconsistencies in the parents’ story, leading them to search their Cabazon home multiple times before they were arrested and charged.
Rebecca Haro has a preliminary hearing set for Monday, Nov. 3.
