In a heartfelt twist of fate, Vivien Mansbach, the California child who inspired the popular book “Go the F— to Sleep,” is now preparing for college, becoming the muse for her father’s latest literary endeavor once again.
Adam Mansbach, the author who captured readers’ hearts with his humorous take on bedtime struggles back in 2011, has released a new book titled “Go the F— to College,” reflecting on his daughter’s next big life step.
“He’s kind of poking fun at me, or maybe at teenagers in general,” Vivien shared with The Oaklandside. “But it’s interesting to have more of a personality in this book, even if it’s meant to represent all teenagers.”
She added, “I’m more of a character now than I was when I was two.”
Now 18, Vivien admitted to The Oaklandside that she felt a wave of emotion when she saw the illustrations for her father’s new book and read his depiction of their soon-to-be “empty nest.”
“It’s a bit sad, but not entirely,” Vivien reflected. “He describes it as lifeless because there’s ‘nothing to fill the time we spent and cleaning up your f—ing mess,’ which is kind of funny.”
Viven plans on leaving Northern California to attend Bard College in Annandaleâon-Hudson, New York, the outlet reported.
This is Adamâs fourth book in the series and caps a saga that he started when Vivien was just three.
She said her fatherâs writing style mimics how they show love and affection to each other â through humor and silly or ironic ways.
âItâs nice to recognize the sweet undertones of those books, even though theyâre full of profanity and jokes,â Vivien told the outlet aboutof the popular series. âI could always recognize the love coming through.â
