A woman is recovering from devastating injuries after authorities say she was struck by a car being driven by two very young brothers, ages 4 and 6, in Oakland, California, according to reports.
OAKLAND, Calif. — A California woman and two boys were hospitalized following a shocking crash involving a vehicle the children allegedly took from their parent, local news outlets reported.
Family members identified the injured woman as Kiara Bowling, who was hit in Oakland by the brothers, ages 4 and 6, ABC7 Bay Area reported.
The children were also taken to the hospital. Their uncle told the outlet that the 4-year-old suffered a concussion, while the 6-year-old sustained two broken legs.
A family fundraiser created for Bowling says she now faces what loved ones describe as a “lifelong recovery” from the crash.
“She’s currently still fighting extremely hard for her life,” her sister, Christina Blackmon, told KTVU. “She is currently suffering from multiple brain bleeds and facial fractures. We’re just hoping for a true speedy recovery.”
The collision reportedly happened Thursday morning in East Oakland as Bowling was walking a friend’s dog. According to reports, the white sedan driven by the brothers sideswiped another vehicle before veering into Bowling.
The dog, named Grizzly, was also injured and ran away after the crash, but was later located and taken to a veterinarian for treatment.
Gwendoline Bowling, Kiara Bowling’s aunt, described her niece to KRON as “the angel God put on Earth to walk around.”
The family told media outlets Bowling was recently picked as Miss California Regency International 2026.
The fundraiser — which has reached over $66,000 of its $90,000 goal as of Sunday, Aug. 9 — will help her “through the challenges that follow such a traumatic event,” and to “make sure support is there during this painful and uncertain time,” the summary said.
