Man shot, Raines High School on lockdown after off-campus shooting, JSO says

On Tuesday afternoon, Camden County Schools reported that law enforcement had conducted an investigation into a potential threat at Camden County High School. The investigation concluded with no credible threat being discovered.

In Kingsland, Georgia, security was heightened across Camden County’s Elementary, Middle, and High Schools as authorities responded to the reported threat at the high school, according to school officials.

A message sent to parents, which was shared with First Coast News, indicated that at approximately 12:12 p.m., law enforcement began scrutinizing a threat directed at Camden County High School, prompting a lockdown of the facility.

By 12:48 p.m., another communication informed parents that the district’s Elementary and Middle Schools were also placed on a “soft” lockdown as a safety measure.

All lockdowns were lifted shortly after 2:30 p.m., following a thorough search of the high school campus. The Kingsland Police Department confirmed that no credible threat was found, although an investigation into the incident remains ongoing. Specifics regarding the nature of the threat have not been released.

“We are grateful for the quick response and support from law enforcement, as well as the patience, understanding, and cooperation from our students, staff, and families during today’s events,” the district stated in their official communication.

“This incident is one of many reminders that threats involving our schools will never be taken lightly,” Chief Rick Evans said in a statement. “The safety of our students, teachers, faculty, and staff remains our highest priority. We train continuously and maintain strong working partnerships with our fellow public safety agencies to ensure we are prepared to protect the community we love.”

Anyone made aware of a potential threat to schools is encouraged to report it directly to law enforcement or school officials.
