Carville: 'The Rise in Gas Prices Is 100% Attributable to the Actions of Donald Trump'

During Thursday’s broadcast of “The Beat” on MS NOW, Democratic strategist James Carville asserted that the recent surge in gas prices can be entirely traced back to former President Donald Trump’s actions.

Host Ari Melber introduced the topic by highlighting a shift among some Republicans who are now aligning with Democrats in opposition to the ongoing war. He mentioned Senators Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins, and Rand Paul, the latter of whom has previously voiced his dissent, as joining Senate Democrats in supporting a resolution to end the conflict. Melber inquired how this bipartisan move might impact the upcoming midterm elections.

Carville responded emphatically, suggesting the war would significantly influence the political landscape. He observed that while President Joe Biden faced criticism for inflation due to pandemic-related supply chain issues, the current spike in gas prices is directly linked to Trump’s policies. Carville stressed that, unlike typical political explanations involving supply and demand, the gas price escalation is entirely attributable to Trump’s initiation of the conflict, which has led to consumer hardships at the pump.
