God’s Love We Deliver is launching a dynamic, yearlong birthday celebration, continuing to support New York with the same dedication and purpose that began in 1985. Since its inception nearly four decades ago, this nonsectarian food and nutrition organization has been preparing and home-delivering medically tailored meals to New Yorkers dealing with severe and chronic illnesses.
Originally established in response to the HIV/AIDS crisis, the initiative has expanded to aid individuals battling over 200 different diagnoses, including mental health issues, cardiovascular diseases, cancer, and sickle cell disease, ensuring that no one faces illness alone in New York City.
Godâs Love We Deliver has stood strong for 40 years, having delivered over 40 million meals and launched impactful programs such as:
God’s Love remains a benchmark for how food can play a crucial role in medical care, maintaining its mission to cook and deliver meals to New Yorkers coping with the simultaneous challenges of hunger and illness, wherever and whenever they are most needed, for as long as their health demands it.

The face of HIV/AIDS has changed drastically since the founding of Godâs Love We Deliver forty years ago, but the care Godâs Love provides its clients living with HIV/AIDS (and all other life-altering illnesses) has not.
James, an artist from South Dakota, moved to New York City in 1976 with dreams of making it in the art world. Two decades into that journey, everything changed when he was diagnosed with AIDS. Faced with the fear of losing not only his livelihood but his life, James found strength through community.
James felt a spark of purpose. Surrounded by others facing the same fight, he poured his heart into advocacy â using art and storytelling to amplify the voices of people living with AIDS across all five boroughs. Today, James is still here â and he credits his Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and the medically tailored meals from Godâs Love We Deliver for helping him feel the healthiest heâs ever been. Not only does James feel better, but heâs got the numbers to prove it: Jamesâs bloodwork has improved, and his doctor attributes this to meals from Godâs Love We Deliver meals.
