A neighborhood resident said a red SUV was being chased by federal agents before a crash in the area.

The resident said at least one person was taken into custody.

A white SUV and the red SUV were damaged.

There are a number of vehicles in the middle of an intersection.

Bystanders are standing outside a circle of federal agents. Some are holding flags and others are holding phones, recording.

At least two more people were seen being taken into custody about 12:30 p.m.

ABC7 Chicago crews on the ground saw some tear gas deployed, after something, possibly eggs, was thrown at agents.

A large amount of tear gas was deployed about 12:40 p.m., after Chicago police tried to get between federal agents and residents gathered.

Those gathered quickly dispersed.

Federal agents had masks, but CPD did not. Some officers appeared to be affected by the gas.

Law enforcement officials did not immediately provide any information about what led up to the police presence.

This is a developing story; check back with ABC7 Chicago for updates.
