It was a well-deserved honor for two of the Cubs’ all-time greats.

Lee played with the Cubs from 2004 to 2010. The first baseman was a National League MLB All-Star in 2005 and 2007.

Sosa returned to Wrigley Field for the first time in more than 20 years earlier this year.

The outfielder became the Cubs’ iconic player over his 13-season tenure, following a trade from the White Sox in March 1992. A seven-time All-Star, Sosa smashed 545 home runs in 1,811 games and set a franchise record with 66 homers in 1998, which earned him the NL MVP title.

At 56, Sosa played his last Cubs game at Wrigley on October 2, 2004, hitting a home run and two hits in an 8-6 loss to Atlanta. During his tenure, Sosa notably increased his muscle mass and stood as a central figure during an era when prominent baseball players were associated with performance-enhancing drugs. In February 2005, the Cubs traded him, along with cash, to Baltimore in exchange for three players.
