Chicago weather forecast: Severe T-Storm Warning in effect for parts of area, with rain chances on 4th of July | Radar

CHICAGO (WLS) — The Chicago area is bracing for another round of unsettled weather Friday, with storms also possible as Fourth of July plans get underway.

Forecasters have placed the region under a Level 2 risk for severe weather Friday, with some storms capable of bringing damaging wind gusts and heavy rain that could lead to flooding.

24/7.

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect for DeKalb and LaSalle counties until 1:15 p.m.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has also been issued for the entire Chicago area until 7 p.m. CDT.

ABC7 AccuWeather Meteorologist Jaisol Martinez said early morning rain will give way to some clearing later in the morning, allowing for periods of sunshine.

The greater chance for rain is expected to return around 2 p.m., Martinez said, with the possibility of on-and-off storms continuing Friday night into Saturday morning.

For the Fourth of July, Martinez said morning storms may move through before a drier stretch develops late in the morning and early afternoon. Storm chances are then expected to rise again later in the afternoon and into the evening.

The heat and humidity will hold in place, with highs expected to reach around 90 degrees Friday and climb into the upper 80s on Saturday.

This comes after a round of storms Thursday night caused damage and knocked down trees, impacting the CTA Yellow Line, where passengers had to be rescued.
