Anticipating nearly 20,000 participants, this beloved race marks the official start of the spring running season in the city.

This annual festivity unfolds just a week after the iconic dyeing of the Chicago River, seamlessly extending the city’s St. Patrick’s Day festivities.

Participants often don festive green gear, adding to the colorful celebration.

The event offers options for all fitness levels, with a scenic 2-mile walk along the lakefront and a challenging 8K run through the heart of downtown.

While walkers enjoy a picturesque route by the lake, runners embark on a spirited journey through the bustling city streets.

Wave one of the race starts at 8:30 a.m.

Street closures along the route will occur between 7:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. The roads in Grant Park are expected to be closed longer:

-Columbus Drive from Roosevelt Road to Grand Avenue

-Grand Avenue from Columbus Drive to State Street

-State Street from Grand Avenue to Wacker Drive

-Wacker Drive from State Street to Washington Boulevard

-Washington Boulevard from Wacker Drive to State Street

-State Street from Washington Boulevard to Jackson Boulevard

-Jackson Boulevard from State Street to Franklin Street

-Franklin Street from Jackson Boulevard to Harrison Street

-Harrison Street from Franklin Street to Michigan Avenue

-Michigan Avenue from Harrison Street to Roosevelt Rd.

-Roosevelt Rd. from Michigan Avenue to Columbus Drive

Last year’s race brought 28,000 runners to the Chicago area.
