The Coast Guard and local agencies are calling on the public for help.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Authorities are actively searching for a potential individual in the water after an unmanned raft was discovered near the Mayport Ferry Landing, officials reported.

The U.S. Coast Guard Station Mayport initiated the search on Saturday morning upon finding an abandoned 8-foot inflatable raft with no sign of any occupants in the vicinity.

The raft was found close to the landing on the St. Johns River, according to the Coast Guard.

In collaboration with the Coast Guard, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department have joined forces in the search operation.

The Coast Guard is appealing to anyone with information that might aid the search to reach out to the U.S. Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville Command Center at 833-4530-1268.

This is a developing incident, and we will update as information becomes available.
