Lauren Betts wants 'Dancing with the Stars' spot after moves go viral

Lauren Betts’ impressive footwork played a pivotal role in leading UCLA to clinch its inaugural NCAA women’s basketball championship this past Sunday.

Now, she hopes her moves will take her from the court to the stage of a renowned television dance competition.

Betts, who captured widespread attention last month with a choreographed dance routine alongside two teammates during the Bruins’ journey to the 2026 title, revealed to the California Post on Thursday that she would eagerly accept an invitation to join the next season of “Dancing with the Stars” if offered.

“Absolutely,” Betts expressed enthusiastically while participating in a ceremonial event at a Raising Cane’s in Hollywood. “Oh, my gosh. I’m so glad you mentioned it, so people are aware. Joining ‘Dancing with the Stars’ would be an amazing experience, and I would love to be a part of it.”

The dance routine that put Betts, Charlisse Leger-Walker, and Gabriela Jaquez in the spotlight first gained traction on March 3. The trio teamed up with UCLA’s Spirit Squad to deliver a surprise performance during a men’s basketball game at Pauley Pavilion.

As they danced to Tate McRae’s “Just Keep Watching,” the audience was thoroughly captivated by their energy and skill.

The Bruins then recreated the scene after nearly every one of their big wins in March, and each time, they drew more and more eyeballs.

Betts is clearly hoping to parlay all of it into a spot on ABC’s hit dancing show, though she did say she would want Leger-Walker and Jaquez with her if an invite came.

“If they could take all three of us — I feel like we’re a package deal at this point,” she said. “You have to take all three.”

Betts also said she’d be open to other dancing opportunities, including some kind of role with McRae — the pop star who actually shouted Betts out after the Bruins secured their new trophy.

“Yes. Please,” Betts said of possibly working with McRae. “We will gladly perform in the background. I don’t even need to be on camera. I just want to be in her presence. She’s amazing.”

So far, nothing appears to be in the works, and Betts made it apparent her immediate priority is to prep for the WNBA.

But if a dancing gig should present itself, it sure looks like she’d happily find the time for it.
