Conn. man feels no remorse for killing dad, says he would do it again

A man from Connecticut, accused of the brutal stabbing murder of his father, reportedly expressed no remorse for his actions. The suspect, Joshua Popielarczyk, allegedly told authorities that he would repeat the crime if given another chance, as revealed in a recently disclosed arrest warrant.

Charged with murder, Popielarczyk is accused of killing his 62-year-old father, David Popielarczyk. The elder Popielarczyk was discovered dead in the living room of their Farmington residence on November 14. After his arrest, Joshua allegedly confessed, admitting he had harbored thoughts of killing his father since the age of nine, claiming years of abuse. He expressed regret only in not acting sooner, according to documents shared by Connecticut Insider.

During the investigation, Joshua reportedly demonstrated to police the method he used to kill his father. According to reports, he approached the elder Popielarczyk from behind while he was seated, placed him in a chokehold, and lifted him from his chair. Initially aiming to break his father’s neck, Joshua allegedly decided to ensure his death by stabbing him with two knives over 20 times.

The gruesome discovery was made by Marie Popielarczyk, the victim’s wife and the suspect’s mother. She found her husband’s body near the front of their Birch Street home and immediately called 911.

“He’s on the floor, there’s blood everywhere,” she reportedly told dispatchers, as noted in the warrant.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined that David died from multiple stab wounds, but found no evidence of a broken neck.

Popielarczyk was ordered held on $3 million bond following his court appearance last month. He is due back in court on Tuesday.
