Mugshot of a man.

The police officer who unintentionally shared an image of a deceased teenager on his Instagram account last year has been suspended due to involvement in a gambling and corruption scandal, according to police reports.

Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez was arrested on Thursday morning and booked into jail on charges of racketeering.

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced that Lopez was detained amid a large-scale probe into an unlawful gambling ring and a public corruption operation.

Officials said Lopez was suspended from his role as he’s held in the Lake County Jail in Tavares, Florida, which is a suburb of Orlando.

This isn’t the first time Loepz has made headlines for a public scandal.

In the previous year, Lopez faced criticism after mistakenly uploading a photo of Madeline Soto’s body during the police investigation into the 13-year-old’s passing.
