A convicted child rapist allegedly attacked a woman after taking her to a Planet Fitness gym in Cambridge, Massachusetts, so she could use the showers. He then allegedly sexually assaulted an employee who attempted to intervene.
Laquan Holland, 40, allegedly struck the woman, tried to remove her clothing and prevented her from escaping inside the gym, according to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, which spoke with News Outlet.
The alleged attack occurred weeks after a charge accusing Holland of failing to register as a sex offender was dismissed on the condition that he complete the required registration, prosecutors confirmed.
Following his arraignment, Holland was ordered held without bail on two counts of assault with intent to rape, two counts of indecent assault and battery, kidnapping and witness intimidation.

A dangerousness hearing is set for Oct. 16. NBC10 Boston reported that a not guilty plea was entered on Holland’s behalf.
Prosecutors said Holland, who belonged to the Porter Square Planet Fitness, arrived at about 9 a.m. Oct. 1 with a woman he knew after offering to let her use the facility’s showers.
Authorities allege that Holland began striking the woman shortly after they arrived.
The woman ran into the women’s locker room and shower area, according to authorities. Holland allegedly pursued her, continued hitting her and touched her inappropriately while attempting to remove her clothing and stop her from leaving, the DA’s office said.

A female employee entered the shower area and tried to pull Holland away from the woman. He allegedly sexually assaulted the employee as well.
Police arrived and found Holland in the locker room attempting to put his clothes back on, prosecutors said.
Holland pleaded guilty in 2006 to two counts of child rape and one count of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14, according to Boston.com, which cited court records.

Cambridge police most recently arrested Holland on Aug. 25 for allegedly failing to register as a sex offender, a subsequent offense, according to police records reviewed by News Outlet.
The DA’s office said Holland is homeless and known to stay in Cambridge and Boston. He is required to complete sex-offender registration and verification procedures every 30 days.
Prosecutors said Holland went to Cambridge police headquarters to register on Aug. 25 but was arrested for being late. The charge was later dismissed on the condition that he register, which he completed on Aug. 27.
Planet Fitness said the franchise operator canceled Holland’s membership and is cooperating with investigators.
“Planet Fitness is committed to providing a safe environment for all. The franchise group has cancelled the membership of the individual involved and is working with local law enforcement to support their investigation into this matter,” the company said.
