Take a moment to inspect your refrigerator: Costco has issued a recall for one of its favored meal kits due to potential salmonella contamination.
The retail giant has alerted customers about a possible health risk with its Meatloaf with Mashed Yukon Potatoes and Glaze meal kit. According to a recall notice, an ingredient in this meal kit might be tainted with salmonella.
In the recall announcement, Costco explained, “We are recalling certain Sell By dates for Item #30783, Meatloaf with Mashed Yukon Potatoes and Glaze, following an alert from our supplier, Griffith Foods Inc., regarding a potential salmonella contamination in one of the ingredients used.”

The affected meal kits bear sell-by dates ranging from March 5 to March 16 and were made available in Costco stores across 26 states, including Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico.
Customers who have purchased this meal kit are advised not to consume it. Costco assures that customers can return the product for a complete refund.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this recall may have caused,” stated Costco in its announcement.
The company added that no illnesses have been reported.
Salmonella symptoms include diarrhea, stomach cramps, headache, nausea, vomiting and loss of appetite, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Symptoms usually start six hours to six days after infection and usually last four to seven days.
Infections can be severe in young children, older adults and people with weakened immune systems, who may require hospitalization.
