Country Star Colt Ford Injured in Germany Tour Bus Crash

The country artist said first responders had to pull him “through a windshield” after the crash.

WASHINGTON — Colt Ford is on the mend after his tour bus veered off the road while traveling to a scheduled concert in Germany.

The 56-year-old country singer opened up about the frightening incident Wednesday on Instagram, telling fans he was rescued through the shattered windshield and suffered a broken shoulder.

“One minute you’re headed to Germany for a show and prepping for single release the next thing you know your Bus is in the ditch and you’re getting pulled through a windshield with a broken shoulder by First Responders. The crew is a little banged up but we’re all still here,” he wrote in the caption.

Ford also posted an image showing the damaged bus after the wreck, with the windshield visibly gone.

The singer is currently listed for another performance in Ballenstedt, Germany, on Saturday, Aug. 15, though it remains unclear whether his injuries will affect that appearance.

Additional Colt Ford tour dates are on the calendar for the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines on Aug. 19, LaGrange, Georgia, on Aug. 21, and Athens, Georgia, on Aug. 22.

The crash marks another serious health scare for Ford, who suffered a heart attack more than two years ago that left him in a coma and on life support for eight days. PEOPLE reported at the time that he flatlined twice, endured a 10-hour surgery and was later placed on an extracorporeal membrane oxygenation machine for a week.

In 2025, he opened up about his heart attack and how it changed the way he lives. Since then, he has been on a weight-loss journey, shedding more than 60 pounds in the past year.

“It was life-changing,” he said in an interview with PEOPLE in February 2025. “My doctor said, ‘I have no idea how you survived.’”

“I’ve changed everything. If I go by Whataburger, I’ll eat a grilled chicken sandwich,” he said to PEOPLE in February 2025. “I don’t do all the fries and stuff.”
