Chicago crime: 2 teens charged in burglary, ATM theft crime spree across city from Logan Square to Lincoln Park, Little Village

Surveillance footage has surfaced capturing a brazen act of burglary at a business in Chicago, where suspects can be seen climbing into the premises under the cover of night. This incident is part of a larger crime spree that has left several businesses across the city reeling.

The culprits, identified as two teenagers, now face charges related to this break-in and a series of others. Due to their status as minors, their identities remain undisclosed. According to law enforcement, these young individuals were involved in a string of burglaries that took place on a Friday, affecting at least four different locations over a mere two-hour period.

Authorities report that the two arrested teenagers were members of a group specifically targeting businesses from Logan Square to Lincoln Park, with a particular focus on stealing ATMs. One of their illicit operations was notably captured on a security camera, providing clear evidence of their actions.

The security footage, timestamped at just before 3:30 a.m., reveals the moment a window was smashed open. Two masked individuals then entered the establishment, heading directly towards the ATM. Despite encountering difficulties in their attempt to lift the machine, they ultimately succeeded in removing it through the window, with assistance from a third accomplice, before making their escape.

It was shortly before 3:30 a.m. when security video showed a window being shattered before two masked people climbed inside and headed straight for the ATM.

After several failed lifts, they got the machine through the window with the help of a third person before getting away.

It happened early Friday morning at The Double Urban Tavern on West Fullerton Avenue in Logan Square.

Police say their getaway vehicle was seen an hour later at a Lincoln Park business, where four suspects also broke in and stole an ATM.

And an hour after that break-in, investigators say the suspects committed another burglary at a Little Village business before getting away with an ATM and a cash register.

After tracking them down, police say they were able to arrest a 17-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy, who they say, participated in the crimes. They were both charged with three counts of burglary and one misdemeanor count of Criminal Trespass to a Vehicle.

A search warrant at a home then led detectives to find the damaged, stolen ATMs, as well as money, a cash register and seven guns. Three of the guns were fully-automatic. Burglary tools and vehicle reprogramming devices were also recovered at the home.

Police say 18-year-old Avion Moore, who lives at the home where the weapons were recovered, was also arrested and faces multiple felony weapons charges.

An investigation into more suspects involved in the burglary crew is ongoing.
