Activist David Hogg described far-left Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) on Friday as âthe type of leaderâ the rudderless Democratic Party needs.
“I absolutely admire her. She’s incredible,” stated the vice chairman of the Democratic National Committee about the vocal congresswoman from Dallas during an interview on “The Breakfast Club” radio show.
“People desire to see someone who stands up and calls out nonsense,” Hogg expressed to host Charlamagne Tha God. “That’s precisely what Jasmine excels at.”
Crockett, known for her history of making bold and attention-grabbing remarks, embodies the kind of “authenticity” that Democrats seek in a leader, as mentioned by Hogg.
âI think Jasmine is, frankly, the type of leader that weâre really looking to support in some senses, right?â he said. âSomebody who is out there that frankly doesnât give a damn what the other side â at least the elected Republicans in Congress â say.â
Crockett, 44, has rabidly opposed President Trump since his landslide win in the 2024 election, calling him a âdictatorâ and an âenemy to the United Statesâ and referring to the commander in chief as âthe person that allegedly got elected.â
The congresswoman, who even suggested in March that she was unsure the US âwill have electionsâ in 2028, has also described deported alleged MS-13 gang banger Kilmar Abrego Garcia as âa lot less criminalâ than Trump.Â
Crockett has also lashed out at the presidentâs supporters, arguing in a December interview with Vanity Fair that Hispanic voters who backed the Trump ticket had a âslave mentality.â
In March, Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott suggested that Crockett has ânothing to sell but hate,â after she mocked his use of a wheelchair â dubbing him âGovernor Hot Wheels.â
House GOP Conference Chairwoman Lisa McClain (R-Mich.) shared photos of Crockett âcutting everyone in lineâ at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport earlier this month, including two passengers in wheelchairs, which caused an uproar on social media.Â
Hoggâs support from Crockett comes as confidence in Democratic congressional leadership plummeted to an all-time low of 25% last month, according to a Gallup poll.
Hogg, 25, was elected vice chair of the DNC in February but has drawn criticism from some Democrats over his plans to spend $20 million to take down long-serving Democratic House lawmakers in primaries.
Earlier this month, the DNCâs credentials panel voted to void the gun control activistâs election, citing procedural errors.
The full DNC will vote in June on whether to strip Hogg from his post and redo the election.
Hogg was a Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School senior when a gunman stormed the Parkland, Fla., school in February 2018 and slaughtered 17 people and injured 17 others.
