For quite some time, California Democrats have pushed for the development of multi-family housing, labeled as “affordable housing,” to boost the state’s housing supply, frequently by reducing single-family home areas. Currently, they seem to be using the recent Eaton and Palisades fires as a reason to relocate families from single-family homes to promote their plans for dense housing projects.
Gov. Newsom (D-CA) said:
“Los Angeles has made significant progress in rebuilding after the fires in January, yet the damage is extensive, and much work remains. Many families, from Pacific Palisades to Altadena to Malibu, are still without homes, and it’s our duty to support them. The funds announced today aim to speed up the construction of affordable multifamily rental housing, ensuring those affected by this disaster have secure and affordable places to return to.”
They don’t want to rebuild Pacific Palisades as it was. They want apartments.
It’s their agenda. War on single family homes. You must live in an apartment! Near transit! No car!
Is that how Gavin Newsom lives? If it’s good enough for him, it’s good enough for every Californian.… pic.twitter.com/XBma2m3YQs

Hilton said, in part:
“Currently across California, there appears to be an intensifying focus by Democrats on reducing single-family homes. This is reflected in the slow issuance of permits and the delays. [They, meaning California Democrat leaders] seem to discourage residents from staying and restoring the Palisades as they once were. Instead, they prefer to rebuild in alignment with Gavin Newsom’s vision for a revamped Los Angeles—this is their intense ideology, dictating how people should live. They want to push apartment living, close to transit, without relying on cars—is that how they themselves live?”
