Di-Quan Hunt Arrested After Chasing Women in Viral Videos

A North Carolina man with a lengthy criminal history is accused of randomly attacking a woman and leaving her hospitalized, while also pursuing another alleged victim in a separate confrontation — disturbing incidents police say he shared on social media.

Di-Quan Schafar Hunt was arrested Thursday in connection with the alleged assault, which took place July 30 in a residential area along the 400 block of East Boulevard in Charlotte, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said.

Investigators said they moved in on Hunt, 32, after the department was shown multiple videos posted to his social media account, where he appeared to document and discuss physical confrontations.

In one recording, Hunt filmed himself talking about what he called a “real issue” from July 21 before he encountered an unidentified woman who was holding a get-well balloon.

“Nah, don’t wave to me,” Hunt shouted at the woman before becoming enraged and punching her, knocking her to the ground.

Hunt, listed as 5-foot-9 and 220 pounds, then stood over the motionless woman and yelled racial slurs as she remained on the pavement.

“You still talking? You still talking?” Hunt shouted. “July 21st. Say Elijah. Elijah my son, Motherf–ker you playing.”

He then tore the broken frames from the woman’s sunglasses, kicked the balloon out of her hand and ran away, according to the footage.

In a separate, undated video, Hunt — as he was ranting about McDonald’s — charged at another woman as she was walking on the sidewalk before chasing her around a car.

“You wanna run bitch, you wanna run motherf–ker, huh? I betcha run again motherf–ker,” he yells in the video.

On Thursday morning, officers responded to an “attempt to locate” call in the heart of Charlotte, where they were shown the disturbing videos posted by Hunt.

Hunt was taken into custody on an arrest warrant at around 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

He was transported to a medical facility for treatment, but officials did not provide details on the reason for the treatment.

After his release from the center, he will be transported to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Hunt, a well-known vagrant in the city, has been arrested at least nine times over the last 34 months in Mecklenburg County, according to jail records viewed by The Post.

Those cases include simple assault, assault on a female, assault with a deadly weapon, trespassing, domestic violence protective order violation and probation violation.

Between December 2012 and June 2019, he was arrested three times for assault on a female, three times for domestic violence protective order violation, and once for discharging a firearm in the city and injury to personal property, according to WCNC.

All those cases had been dismissed.

In June 2019, Hunt was arrested and pled guilty to discharging a weapon in an occupied property and felony probation violation, where he was sentenced to serve 20-36 months in prison.

However, he was released in June 2020 for reasons not immediately known, according to the outlet.

In August 2024, Hunt was arrested and later found guilty of breaking or entering, injury to personal property, and misdemeanor probation violation. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail with time served.

He was last convicted in March 2026 for assault with a deadly weapon and carrying a concealed weapon in a December 2025 incident.

He was sentenced to 89 days in prison but was never locked up because of his time served while waiting for the trial, the outlet reported.

Hunt’s brutal attack in July took place just over 11 months after Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska was fatally stabbed by a homeless menace while riding a Charlotte light rail train.

Zarutska, who was sitting by herself on the train, was butchered by Decarlos Brown Jr. in a random deadly assault on Aug. 22, 2025.

The 23-year-old, who had fled to the US to escape the Russian invasion in Ukraine, was on her way home from her job at a pizzeria when she died minutes after the attack.
