A forthcoming documentary will examine the online culture behind the terror plot that forced Taylor Swift to cancel three Eras Tour concerts in Vienna, as well as the extraordinary way fans responded.

Currently titled “Taylor Swift Wien,” the documentary will explore the ISIS-inspired threat that led to the cancellation of three concerts in Vienna in August 2024 and the solidarity shown by Swifties in the aftermath, Variety reports.

The three shows were called off after authorities discovered that a suspect planned to attack fans gathered outside Vienna’s Ernst Happel Stadium with knives and homemade explosives. His alleged aim was to “kill as many people as possible.”

Because of Austria’s privacy laws, the suspect was identified only as “Beran A.” Authorities said he had pledged allegiance to ISIS and worked with other Islamic State members to obtain weapons and organize attacks at multiple locations around the world. Intelligence officials uncovered the plan before it could be carried out, prompting the cancellation of all three concerts.

According to Variety, the documentary will investigate how the teenage suspect was “fueled by online radicalization and a desperate need for validation.”

“He had been kind of radicalized through TikTok,” Georg Tschurtschenthaler, chief creative officer at Germany’s Beetz Brothers, told Variety. “There is a new generation of young Islamic terrorists that is growing worldwide who are steeped in social media and different from the old terrorists trained in Al Qaeda camps.”

After the concerts were canceled, thousands of Swifties—including fans who had traveled to Vienna from around the world—came together for sing-alongs, friendship-bracelet exchanges and meetings with local leaders. Variety reports that the documentary will contrast this largely female-led show of solidarity with the toxic-masculinity culture associated with the terror plot.

“Having our Vienna shows cancelled was devastating,” Swift wrote on Instagram after the cancellations. She thanked the authorities, adding that because of their actions, “we were grieving concerts and not lives.”

Beran A. pleaded guilty to terrorism charges in an Austrian court in April 2026 and received a 15-year prison sentence. During the proceedings, he said, “I would just like to say that I am sorry.”

The documentary is scheduled to premiere in Germany in 2027, followed by an international release.
