Donald Trump speaking with his son, Barron Trump.

DONALD Trump has opened up about why his son Barron decided to study at New York University and revealed the four rules he told him.

The president engaged in a conversation with New York Post writer Miranda Devine for the debut episode of their Pod Force One podcast. They discussed a variety of subjects, including family matters, the protests occurring in Los Angeles, and his recent disagreement with Elon Musk.

Barron, 19, is Trump’s only child with his wife and first lady Melania.

In the podcast, Trump shared details about the relationship Barron had with her late mom, Amalija Knavs.

Knavs died at the age of 78 when she died in January, 2024.

Trump said that Knavs played a factor in why Barron selected New York University.

“He just wanted to be there,” he told Devine on the podcast.

“He wanted to be there because his grandmother was gonna stay and wait for him in an apartment near the school. And she passed away.”

Trump also revealed he told Barron, who has just finished his freshman year, to be wary of the left-leaning teachers at NYU.

Barron didn’t follow in his siblings footsteps when he made the choice to study in New York.

Trump and his son, Donald Trump Jr, studied at the University of Pennsylvania.

Both graduated with degrees in economics.

In other news, Ivanka Trump, the president’s firstborn, began her studies at Georgetown University in Washington, DC, before moving on to the University of Pennsylvania.

And, he also shared the four pieces of advice he told his children.

“I always said the same thing,” Trump told Devine.

“I said: no drugs, no alcohol, no cigarettes.

Barron Trump is the youngest son of President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.

The U.S. Sun takes a look back at Barron Trump’s life.

Barron was born on March 20, 2006, to parents Melania and Donald Trump.

Barron was seen with his dad when the real estate tycoon was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2007.

During his childhood, Barron was also pictured with his parents at the US Open Tennis championships.

Barron went viral when he sleepily struggled to keep his eyes open as Trump gave a victory speech following the 2016 presidential election.

Barron attended school in New York before continuing his studies in Maryland in May 2017.

He would often be pictured in and around the White House grounds during his father’s presidency.

In January 2021, Donald Trump departed Washington DC, after losing the 2020 presidential election. The family relocated to Florida.

Barron continued his studies at the Oxbridge Academy in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Barron turned 18 on March 20, 2024 before graduating from the Oxbridge Academy on May 17, 2024.

On September 4, 2024, Barron started college and was pictured at New York University in Manhattan.

During Donald Trump’s campaign, Barron was often noted as a significant influence in promoting Trump’s participation in podcasts and YouTube platforms that target young male audiences.

He is listed as the DeFi visionary (short for decentralized finance) for Donald Trump’s new cryptocurrency venture, World Liberty Financial.

Barron attended Trump’s inauguration, which was held in the US Capitol Rotunda, on January 20, 2025.

Barron turned 19 on March, 20, 2025.

“I also would say don’t get tattoos, but I don’t say it too strongly, because a lot of people have gotten tattoos and that’s what they choose to do.”

Barron was kept out of the limelight following Trump’s departure from the White House at the end of his first term in January 2021.

He studied at the prestigious Oxbridge Academy in West Palm Beach, Florida, and graduated in 2024.

Barron rarely attended Trump’s political rallies, but made an appearance at a rally held in Florida in July 2024.

He was introduced to the crowd and seemed to lap up the adulation he received from diehard fans.

Trump joked that Barron may be more popular than Don Jr, or Eric Trump.

The rally was held just days before Trump survived an assassination attempt at an event in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Last September, Trump opened up on the moment Barron found out his dad had been targeted.

“Barron was outside having a tennis lesson,” he told Fox News star Mark Levin.

“He’s a good tennis player, he’s outside playing tennis and someone ran up and said ‘Barron, Barron, your father’s been shot.”

Trump suffered a grazed ear after gunman Thomas Crooks opened fire.

The president also discussed his spat with Elon Musk that escalated after a clash over his spending bill that is being scrutinized by Congress.

“When he did that, I was not a happy camper,” Trump said.

Musk shared posts calling for the president to be impeached and Trump lashed out at the businessman on his Truth Social profile.

Despite the clash, Trump said he had no hard feelings.

And, Musk expressed regret over some of his comments.

Trump also spoke out about the recent Los Angeles protests that unfolded in response to immigration raids taking place in the city.

The president has sent around 4,000 members of the National Guard and 700 Marines into the city in a bid to quell the protests.
