Forsyth Street and Adams Street will return to two-way traffic July 2.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Forsyth Street and Adams Street in Downtown Jacksonville will open to two-way traffic July 2.

The Downtown Investment Authority indicates that this initiative aims to reestablish two-way traffic in the downtown area, thereby fostering economic development, boosting property values, and enabling more efficient use of on-street parking and rideshare services.

According to the DIA, this change will increase “retail visibility” and retail occupancy, as well as improve walkability and pedestrian safety.

This project has brought in new signage, pavement, road striping, and parking kiosks. Following the reopening of the roads, the subsequent phase will focus on expanding sidewalks, planting trees, and enhancing the streetscape.

There will be a ribbon cutting July 2 as two-way traffic is reintroduced.
