Elaine Hendrix has been admitted to the hospital following an injury sustained while preparing for the “Dancing With the Stars” Halloween Night event.
The 54-year-old actress and her dance partner, Alan Bersten, had to sit out Tuesday’s episode because of the injury. Hendrix took to Instagram to explain that she hurt her ribs during their performance of “Defying Gravity” from Wicked Night last week, which subsequently “seized up.”
“I couldn’t move,” she revealed from her hospital bed, addressing her supporters directly.
Medical advice suggested that Hendrix should take a day or two to rest before resuming activities. Visibly emotional, she pleaded with fans to cast their votes to help her remain in the competition.
“I want to dance,” she expressed, her voice breaking with emotion. “I want to keep doing this.”
In her Instagram caption, Hendrix described her feelings as “devastated” over missing the Halloween Night performance.
“I was beyond excited to share what we had worked so hard on, although you’ll see a version of it,” she shared. “With your support, I’ll be back in the ballroom next week. I want nothing more.”
During Tuesday’s “DWTS” episode, Alfonso Ribeiro explained why Hendrix and Bersten were not present.
“She suffered an injury in rehearsal this morning,” he revealed. “Right now, she’s at the hospital being assessed.”
