Arrested man in police vehicle.

ELEVEN inmates have broken out of jail, and nine who cops say are armed and dangerous are still on the run.

The shocking escape by a double murderer and other violent inmates has triggered a full lockdown at the Orleans Parish Justice Center.

Cops discovered the men were missing during an 8:30 am head count on Friday, according to the sheriff’s office.

Two have been captured so far, including Kendell Myles, while nine remain at large.

New Orleans Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick stated that a “group of people” were quickly evacuated from their homes for their safety after the escape and were “taken to safety.”

“If you were a victim or witness and are concerned, let us help you get to safety,” Kirkpatrick said.

“If there is anyone who is harboring or helping these escapees, you will be charged as an accomplice,” Kirkpatrick said in a press conference.

Orleans Parish Sheriff Susan Hutson called the escape “very serious and unacceptable.”

“We are initiating a comprehensive investigation to understand how this escape took place, which includes examining facility protocols, staff performance, and physical security measures,” the sheriff announced.

Sources told WDSU the prisoners escaped through a hole in their cell, possibly beneath a toilet, to get out of the jail.

Security expert Mike Cahn said the breakout would have taken time and planning.

Police are now whisking the inmates’ victims and families to safety as they scour the city for the violent offenders.

Several of the escapees face second-degree murder charges.

Officials warned all should be considered “armed and dangerous.”

The escapees are Antoine Massey, Lenton Vanburen, Leo Tate, Kendell Myles, Derrick Groves, Jermain Donald, Corey Boyd, Gary Price, Robert Moody, Decannon Dennis, and Keith Lewis.

Myles faces charges for concealing a weapon, bringing contraband into prison, and possession of contraband.
