LOS ANGELES — It’s Emmy Award season in Hollywood and Emmy voters have so many great shows to choose from.

In the latest installment of On The Red Carpet, we examine the frontrunners for this year’s awards in categories like Outstanding Drama, Outstanding Comedy, and Outstanding Limited Series, among others.

FULL LIST: 2025 Emmy Award nominations

One of the shows up for Best Drama is Disney+’s Star Wars thriller “Andor.” This series, heading into its second and final season, has garnered 14 Emmy nominations thanks to the efforts of its creator, Tony Gilroy.

“Creating a show of this magnitude focused on themes such as rebellion, revolution, oppression, fascism, authoritarianism, and colonialism—all topics I’ve been deeply passionate about—felt like a duty,” Gilroy expressed to On The Red Carpet. “If we were going to pursue it, we had to thoroughly explore and address all these themes.”

Hulu’s series “Paradise” is also vying for Best Drama. This intricate, post-apocalyptic mystery involving a presidential assassination has secured Emmy nods for cast members James Marsden, Julianne Nicholson, and Sterling K. Brown.

“After I read the pilot, I was like, I’m as curious to find out what happens in this world as I think our audience will be,” Brown said.

ABC’s “Abbott Elementary,” which has previously won four Emmys, is up for six more nominations this year. These include categories for Best Comedy and acting nominations for Quinta Brunson, Janelle James, and Sheryl Lee Ralph.

“We are thrilled to remain in the hearts and thoughts of the individuals who vote, nominate, and view our show, which means a great deal to us,” Ralph shared with On The Red Carpet.

Other top comedy contenders you’ll hear from in this new special include the stars of “The Bear,” “Only Murders in the Building,” “What We Do in the Shadows,” and “Nobody Wants This.”

Among the Outstanding Limited Series hopefuls is FX’s “Dying For Sex.” Stars Michelle Williams, Jenny Slate and Rob Delaney were all recognized with Emmy nods for mixing heart and humor in the true story of Molly Kochan and her best friend Nikki Boyer as they navigated Molly’s terminal diagnosis. The series was based on the popular podcast of the same name.
