Residents of Southern California were on heightened alert Friday as two separate wildfires erupted just hours apart, charring hundreds of acres and prompting officials to issue evacuation orders.
The swift-moving fires blazed through brushlands and canyons in Riverside and Los Angeles counties, leading to urgent evacuations and a rapid deployment of firefighting resources.
In Riverside County, the Springs Fire sparked shortly after 11 a.m. near Gilman Springs Road, east of Moreno Valley, as reported by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE).
