Amidst escalating tensions in the Middle East, the super-rich are sparing no expense to ensure their safety, with some shelling out as much as $350,000 to escape the region aboard private jets. As missiles continue to strike, demand for these costly evacuations has soared.
Affluent residents of Dubai and Abu Dhabi have been urgently contacting private security firms to secure an escape plan following recent joint military actions by the US and Israel against Iran, according to a report by Semafor. These wealthy individuals are willing to pay top dollar for a 10-hour drive to Saudi Arabia, where they can then hire private jets to Europe.
“Saudi Arabia is the only viable option for those looking to leave the region at this time,” explained Ameerh Naran, CEO of Vimana Private, a private jet brokerage firm. This route has become a lifeline for many seeking to distance themselves from the conflict.
The exodus includes high-ranking executives from global financial institutions and affluent tourists caught in the crossfire during their vacations. The security firm Alma Risk, based in the UK, has seen an influx of requests from various clients, including families, individuals, and corporations. “People are reaching out either due to safety concerns or because business needs require them to travel,” said Ian McCaul from Alma Risk.
Among those trying to escape are senior executives at global finance firms and rich folks in the region on vacation.
“We’ve been approached by a mixture of clients including families, individuals, and corporations that want to get out of the region either because their fear for their safety, or for business reasons they just need to be able to travel,” Ian McCaul, who works at the UK-based security firm Alma Risk, said.
