He is one of the most influential men in the entertainment industry, so it comes as no surprise that Simon Cowell would like to see his son Eric, nine, take over his position as the head judge on America’s Got Talent.
However, it appears his child has already set his sights on becoming a superstar singer, rather than the person judging the talent of others.
Speaking exclusively to DailyMail.com, the 63-year-old admitted Eric is already learning the ropes when it comes to finding entertainers with promise.
‘Trust me, he is in training,’ the doting dad explained. ‘He sits and watches the shows with me before they go out and I don’t ask him, but I look at his reaction because kids don’t lie.’
Like father, like son: Simon Cowell would like to see his son Eric, nine, take over his position as the head judge on America’s Got Talent
He continued: ‘If they are bored, they are bored and if they are interested in something, they are… And that’s really helped me actually. I hope he does what I do.’
However, it turns out the young child is far more eager to have his turn in the limelight as Simon added: ‘He has said the dreaded words, “Daddy, can I audition for you? And I’m like, “Oh, No!”‘
Eric would even be willing to share his success with others as his father revealed that the aspiring singer hopes to become part of a band one day.
‘He wants to be in a band. He likes Green Day,’ Simon laughed. ‘So, I’m like, “We’ll have this conversation later.” He’s going to do what he wants to do.’
Simon made it clear that his son wouldn’t ever receive any special treatment should he audition for his father.
In fact, Eric is guaranteed to receive the same tough criticism that helped Simon become a household name through his time judge talent on TV shows.
The former American Idol judge explained: ‘I’ve said to him, “If you are not good, you are not going on the show. And that means you’ve got to rehearse. Sorry, you have to take a lot of lessons, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.”
‘He is like, “Okay.” And then I think he lost interest, but I think he just, I don’t know. He’s just up for it for some reason. But if he’s terrible, no, you won’t see him on the show’.

Simon welcomed his son Eric in 2014 with his fiancée Lauren, 45, who he is set to marry after he left behind his bachelor lifestyle to walk down the aisle.
American socialite Lauren also has son Adam, 16, from her previous relationship with businessman Andrew Silverman.
Simon proposed to Lauren on Christmas Eve in Barbados with their son present, and it was previously claimed the couple are keen to have the youngster ‘front and center’ at the ceremony.
Should Eric eventually chose to follow in his father’s footsteps and work within the entertainment industry, Simon will surely be able to share advice on how to handle negativity from the public.
Reflecting on how he handles the ‘haters’, Simon told DailyMail.com: ‘There will always be haters. I mean, genuinely. I will tell you I just don’t read it, I don’t read anything actually, to be honest with you.
‘But I do meet a lot of people in my job when I go out and I meet people and everyone’s very nice to me, so it doesn’t really bother me.’

He continued: ‘I’d rather be that than just a fake. And as you know, there are a lot of people who fake it and then behind the scenes, they are monsters. They are, I could tell you about them, but I won’t.’
