Walt Disney Studios is celebrating a significant milestone—75 years of “Alice in Wonderland.” In honor of this anniversary, the beloved classic has been meticulously restored and remastered, now available in breathtaking 4K resolution. This enchanting film can soon be enjoyed in the comfort of your home on digital platforms and 4K Ultra Blu-ray, making it an ideal choice for family movie nights.
The restoration of “Alice in Wonderland” was no small feat. The Walt Disney Film Restoration team dedicated nine months to digitally scanning the original film, painstakingly addressing issues like dust, warping, and age-induced wear. Their goal was to breathe new life into this timeless tale while staying true to its original charm.
To ensure authenticity, the team referenced original production artwork preserved by the Walt Disney Animation Research Library. In collaboration with Michael Giaimo, a seasoned veteran of Walt Disney Animation Studios, they meticulously reviewed each frame to refine the film’s color and luminance, capturing the essence of the movie’s original vision.
Kevin Schaeffer, Director of Restoration & Library Management, expressed his enthusiasm in a press release, stating, “The original animation artists’ work on ‘Alice in Wonderland’ is stunning, and we’re proud to present it with renewed clarity and vibrancy. This milestone restoration brings new depth and dimension to the film’s imaginative world, offering a vibrant presentation for longtime fans and a new generation of audiences alike.”
For those eager to explore beyond the main feature, the Blu-ray and digital release offers a treasure trove of bonus content.
