911 call released in NJ therapist’s killing after husband found body
Authorities have released a harrowing 911 call made by Conor Hanlon, the husband of therapist Brooke Hanlon, after he discovered her unresponsive and bleeding on the second floor of their New Jersey home. The graphic audio captures his desperate pleas for help in the stabbing death investigation. No suspect has been publicly identified, and officials are offering a $1,000 reward for information.

More than two months after 35-year-old New Jersey mother Brooke Hanlon was found fatally stabbed inside her Chester home, loved ones are offering a fuller picture of the cherished wife, daughter, sister and friend she was, even as the search for answers continues.
A newly published obituary for the slain psychotherapist states that she “is survived by her beloved daughter, Avery, her sister, Paige Haggerty, her parents, Melissa and Joseph Haggerty, and her husband, James ‘Conor’ Hanlon.”

Hanlon was discovered dead on June 6. The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office has classified the case as a homicide, saying she died from “multiple sharp force injuries.”
The Prosecutor’s Office is leading the investigation and, so far, has not publicly named a suspect or person of interest.

Regarding the ongoing investigation, the Haggerty family said in a statement sent to News Outlet, “We have full and unwavering confidence in the investigative efforts of law enforcement.”
Conor Hanlon was the person who called 911 to report he found his wife unconscious and not breathing on the floor of their home.

In the frantic call, he is heard asking the operator to give him “CPR instructions,” then says “there’s a laceration” on his wife’s body.
Conor and Brooke were married nearly five years before she was killed.

“While in Boston, Brooke met and fell in love with her future husband, Conor Hanlon. Brooke and Conor were married in June 2021 and lived in the Boston area until they moved to Chester, New Jersey in September 2023. They purchased a home in Chester in September 2024 and welcomed their beloved daughter, Avery, in July 2025,” the obituary said.

Brooke was a therapist who “loved her work,” and “had tremendous compassion” for her clients.
Before the start of her career, she graduated from Villa Walsh Academy in 2009.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Wake Forest University in 2013, and then her master’s from Northeastern University in 2015.

“Brooke was a truly beautiful soul. Everyone who has ever known her will always remember Brooke’s extraordinary kindness, friendship, loyalty, empathy, compassion, humility, generosity, and passionate desire to help and support family, friends, and all those she counseled,” according to her obituary.
