In a tragic turn of events on Long Island, a young man has been taken into custody, accused of fatally stabbing his roommate after a heated disagreement erupted in their Nassau County residence. Authorities disclosed the incident on Sunday, involving two residents of the same household.

The accused, identified as Desean Hamilton, a 23-year-old from Elmont, now faces charges of second-degree murder. Police revealed the victim to be a 33-year-old man, though his name has not been released publicly at this time.

The altercation reportedly stemmed from a dispute over the living conditions at their shared home, situated just a short drive from JFK Airport. According to News 12 Long Island, this argument escalated dramatically, culminating in the deadly stabbing.

Police were alerted to the violence around 1 p.m. on Sunday following reports of a stabbing incident. Upon arrival, responding officers discovered the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

Witnesses at the scene identified Hamilton as the perpetrator, leading to his arrest without any further incident. Authorities confirmed that his arraignment was scheduled to take place in Hempstead on Monday.

This incident marks a somber moment in the community, coinciding with another fatal stabbing on Long Island over the holiday period, which occurred during a seemingly random attack at a CVS store on Christmas Day.

John Pilaccio, a 43-year-old Lindenhurst man, was arrested the next day and charged with stabbing 23-year-old Edeedson “Eddy” Cine to death at the pharmacy in Suffolk County. Cine was working as a cashier at the store when Pilaccio killed him with a knife to the chest, cops said.
