One summer morning, a 5-year-old boy from Florida, driven by his hunger for Chick-fil-A, quietly left his house to make his way to the beloved fast-food outlet alone. His solo adventure resulted in a police visit as he indulged in his meal.

Identified as William, the boy was found enjoying his breakfast sandwich in a booth beside a Chick-fil-A manager, just as officers from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene.

“Are you going to take me to jail?” he asked the officers, according to bodycam footage.

William's parents speak with police about his "adventure."

“He knows the route to Chick-fil-A because we often walk there together,” his parent shared. “I never imagined he would venture there on his own in the early hours before the rest of us had woken up.”

The boy’s father, identified as Phil, said his son “had an adventure.”

“I was concerned about his well-being—was he frightened, was he in tears, or was he upset? His unusual silence was telling,” his father remarked. “It seems the experience was unsettling for him, so I feel reinforcing that he shouldn’t do it again wasn’t necessary.”

“I think he understood that it was serious, but we did talk about it,” he added.
