Officials unveiled on Friday that they have successfully foiled an Iranian scheme to assassinate Israel’s ambassador in Mexico.
The plot, attributed to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, aimed to target the ambassador since late last year. However, this plan was intercepted, according to a U.S. official who spoke to Reuters.
In a statement to Fox News, Israel’s foreign ministry expressed gratitude, saying, “We extend our thanks to the Mexican security and law enforcement agencies for dismantling a terrorist network orchestrated by Iran, which intended to harm Israel’s ambassador in Mexico.”
They added, “Israel’s security and intelligence apparatus will persist in its relentless efforts, collaborating globally with security and intelligence agencies to prevent terrorist threats from Iran and its affiliates against Israeli and Jewish entities worldwide.”

The U.S. source reassured Reuters, stating that the threat against ambassador Einat Kranz Neiger has been neutralized and is no longer an active concern.
“This is just the latest in a long history of Iran’s global lethal targeting of diplomats, journalists, dissidents and anyone who disagrees with them, something that should deeply worry every country where there is an Iranian presence,” the official reportedly added.

Security services in Britain and Sweden warned last year that Iran was leaning on criminal proxies to carry out attacks, with Britain claiming to have disrupted 20 Iranian-linked plots since 2022, Reuters also reported.
