Former NFL Player and UFC Fighter Greg Hardy Detained on Suspicion of Family Member Assault

Troubled former NFL star turned UFC fighter Greg Hardy had been arrested in Texas for allegedly assaulting a family member.

The former Dallas Cowboys pass rusher was arrested on Wednesday afternoon and charged with assault resulting in bodily injury to a family member, according to TMZ.

Details on the alleged assault weren’t immediately available.

The 36-year-old is still in custody ahead of a Thursday court hearing.

Hardy’s run-ins with the law date back to 2014 when he was arrested for allegedly attacking his then-girlfriend.

Two years later, he was taken into custody for cocaine possession.

Hardy had stints with the Carolina Panthers and Cowboys during his six-year NFL career — including one All-Pro and Pro Bowl season in 2013.

His football career took a disturbing turn in the wake of the domestic violence incident with his girlfriend.

Following his football career, Hardy got into mixed martial arts and scored several fights in the UFC.
