Dozens of delegates walked out as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took the podium at the United Nations General Assembly. Addressing those who remained, Netanyahu called the departing diplomats “moral cowards” and defended Israel’s military campaign. He described the exodus as a stunning display of hypocrisy, arguing that it overlooked the broader threat posed by Iran.

U.S. Ambassador Mike Huckabee and Israeli officials sharply criticized French President Emmanuel Macron over remarks concerning Hamas, setting off an international diplomatic dispute. Huckabee mocked the French position and suggested that France could instead surrender a portion of the French Riviera. French officials moved to contain the fallout, saying Macron’s comments had been misunderstood or distorted in translation.

German authorities have charged seven alleged Hamas operatives accused of storing automatic rifles and handguns in Europe. Prosecutors said the group was preparing attacks against Jewish and Israeli targets in Berlin and Vienna as the anniversary of Oct. 7 approached. Investigative files also indicated that one of the suspects had been operating as a confidential informant for German intelligence.
Ambassador Jeff Bartos, the U.S. representative for U.N. management and reform, is calling on the United Nations to end its observance of the legacy of the 2001 Durban Conference. Bartos argued that the gathering helped give rise to the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement and urged the organization to abandon commemorations tied to what he described as a damaging chapter in order to restore its credibility.
“Before I begin, just a quick announcement: if there are any other moral cowards who haven’t yet left this hall, please do so now,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the remaining members of the General Assembly after the mass walkout.
