More than 700 rabbis are calling on New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani to apologize after comments they say invoked “dark money” in a way that critics argue blurred AIPAC with Jewish people more broadly. Opponents contend the language echoes long-running antisemitic conspiracy tropes and could heighten fears within the Jewish community, while Mamdani has defended his remarks as rooted in political philosophy.

Irvine Rabbi Rafi Dadon is threatening legal action after city officials issued $5,000 in fines tied to private prayer meetings held in his home. Religious liberty advocates say the zoning enforcement amounts to a chilling and unlawful attempt to restrict worship and religious study in a private residence.

Candidates aligned with Zohran Mamdani’s anti-Israel socialist wing are drawing national attention after a string of Democratic primary victories. Brad Lander, Darializa Avila Chevalier and Claire Valdez defeated incumbents Dan Goldman and Adriano Espaillat, according to the report, prompting critics to warn that the results represent a “genuinely scary night for Jews” as the winners move closer to heavily Democratic general-election races.
