Suspect's friend reveals last text after Minnesota lawmaker shootings

The suspect in the shooting of two Minnesota lawmakers and their spouses is currently on the run.

MINNEAPOLIS — The roommate and best friend of the suspect in the shooting of two Minnesota lawmakers shared the last message he received from him.

Vance Boelter is a suspect in the fatal shooting of DFL Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark. He is also implicated in the shooting of DFL Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, who have now undergone surgery successfully.

Authorities carried out a search warrant at a residence in North Minneapolis on Saturday, which Boelter reportedly frequented a few days each week. Although Boelter was not present, KARE 11 journalist Michelle Baik notes that investigators removed certain belongings of his.

David Carlson, Boelter’s roommate and close friend, informed the media that the final text he received from Boelter was sent around 6 a.m., in which Boelter allegedly mentioned he would soon be dead and expressed his love for them. Carlson stated that it’s inconceivable to him that Boelter could be responsible for these actions.

When he received the text message, Carlson feared Boelter may hurt himself and called the authorities.

When asked about political affiliation, Carlson said Boelter was a strong supporter of President Donald Trump, but said he had no idea Boelter knew about state politics.

Law enforcement shared images of Boelter and say he is considered armed and dangerous. The image below was taken from a security camera Saturday morning after the shooting. If anyone sees Boelter they should call 911 immediately.
