2026 Puerto Rican People's Day Parade, festival set for this week in Chicago's Humboldt Park | See road closures

CHICAGO – Excitement is building in Chicago’s Humboldt Park neighborhood as it prepares to host a vibrant Puerto Rican festival this week.

A highlight of the celebration is the Puerto Rican People’s Day Parade, which promises to be a central attraction.

The festival’s activities, including the parade, are scheduled to run from Thursday through Sunday, offering several days of cultural enjoyment.

In addition to the parade, attendees can look forward to a movie premiere and a series of live musical performances, enhancing the festival’s diverse offerings.

To accommodate the events, road closures and no-parking zones will be in place until Monday, ensuring pedestrian safety and smooth festival operations.

Motorists are advised to heed these restrictions, as vehicles parked in violation will face ticketing or towing.

Beginning at 9 a.m. Thursday, the following roads cannot be parked on: Kedzie Avenue from Division Street to North Avenue; California Avenue from Division to North; Division from Homan Avenue to Western Avenue; and North Ave from Kedzie to California.

Starting at midnight Friday, North, from Central Park Avenue to Western cannot be parked on.

From 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, the following roads will be closed: Division from Kedzie to Western; Humboldt Drive from Division to North; and Campbell Avenue from Augusta Boulevard to Division.

From 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, detours will be posted on the following streets: North from Central Park to Western; Kedzie from Division to North; and California from Division to North.
