CHICAGO (WLS) — The Windy City took the spotlight on Sunday as a local maestro graced the Super Bowl LX halftime show.

Giancarlo Guerrero, the esteemed director of the Grant Park Music Festival, shared the stage with the renowned artist Bad Bunny. His presence was marked by his skillful direction of a string ensemble during the performance of “Monaco.”
Guerrero expressed his admiration, stating, “Bad Bunny is a versatile artist whose music resonates with various Hispanic genres. It feels not just familiar, but like home. Being a part of this incredible show was a remarkable experience. Collaborating with so many talented individuals and witnessing the magic unfold was truly inspiring. It was thrilling to be involved in such a monumental event!”
The conductor will return to Chicago on June 10 to lead the Grant Park Orchestra as they kick off their 10-week season at Millennium Park.
Originally from Nicaragua, Guerrero moved to Costa Rica during his youth, where he honed his craft with the local youth symphony. His impressive career has since taken him through Texas, Nashville, and now, Chicago.
He was born in Nicaragua and immigrated during his childhood to Costa Rica, where he joined the local youth symphony. His career has led him to Texas, Nashville and Chicago.
Guerrero is a six-time Grammy Award-winning conductor, who also serves as the Music Director of Sarasota Orchestra, and the Music Director Laureate of the Nashville Symphony.
“Both my daughters and wife are huge fans of Bad Bunny,” Guerrero said. “If I wouldn’t have jumped at this opportunity, they would never have forgiven me!”
