HGTV stars posted about Ruch’s passing, remembering him as someone they were lucky to know.

Loren Ruch, co-host of “HGTV House Party” and content head on the home improvement channel, passed away on June 12 after a battle with leukemia, reports confirm. He was 55.

“Recognized for his unwavering commitment, boundless kindness, and steadfast integrity, Loren not only created popular shows but also formed lasting relationships, acting as a mentor, advocate, and true friend to numerous colleagues throughout the television industry. His influence extended well beyond the screen,” Channing Dungey, chair of Warner Bros. Television Group, noted in a memo obtained by Variety and Today.com.

Ruch had been battling acute myeloid leukemia for at least a year, according to his social media.

Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) is a cancer affecting the blood and bone marrow, according to the Mayo Clinic. The term “acute” indicates that the condition tends to deteriorate rapidly. AML is identified as the most prevalent form of acute leukemia in adults, as per the Mayo Clinic.

HGTV stars posted about his passing, remembering him as someone they were lucky to know.

“You helped me see this crazy world we were in together through your rose colored glasses and you will be forever missed,” wrote HGTV star Alison Victoria. “To all of the lucky ones that knew you and loved you, my heart breaks with you. To (David Salas), I’m sending you all of my love and light during this darkness. May your memory be eternal.”

“Property Brothers” star Jonathan Scott posted to his Instagram story remembering Ruch, saying “Struggling with the loss of my friend tonight. Loren, you’re one of the great ones.”

A week before his death, Ruch’s husband Salas posted about their 21st wedding anniversary on social media.

“Here’s to many more amazing years ahead! I Love You,” he wrote.

Ruch was with HGTV since 2008, according to Variety. HGTV is a cable channel owned by Warner Bros. Discovery primarily broadcasting reality home improvement/real estate content.

“HGTV House Party” was a reality television show that lasted one season in 2021 where Ruch and co-host Brian Balthazar “dish with HGTV celebrities about life, love and so much more,” according to HGTV.

Ruch is survived by his husband, parents and brother.
