Santa Monica kidnapping ends in police chase, shootout

An intense police pursuit unfolded in Santa Monica early Monday morning, culminating in a dramatic confrontation in South Los Angeles.

Authorities from Santa Monica Police Department engaged in the chase around 3:15 a.m. after identifying a suspect linked to a kidnapping case, according to reports from ABC7.

The suspect, allegedly involved in the abduction of an adult, fled the scene, triggering a high-speed pursuit that stretched over 10 miles to the intersection of Hoover and 85th streets, far from the coastal city.

Upon reaching the location, officers discharged their firearms before successfully apprehending the suspect.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the altercation. Police have released limited details concerning the shooting or the specifics of the kidnapping, noting that the victim was not in the vehicle during the chase or the subsequent arrest.
