This week, Disneyland paused operations on some of its most beloved attractions just as Spring Break visitors began to flock to the park.
The renowned Disneyland Monorail, a staple since its inception in 1959 as California’s first daily-operating monorail, ceased operations on Monday. This information was confirmed by Disneyland’s official refurbishment calendar.
Known for providing breathtaking vistas of Disneyland Park and offering a swift journey between Tomorrowland and Downtown Disney, the Monorail was originally conceived to embody Walt Disney’s futuristic transportation ideals.
Also joining the list of temporarily closed attractions is Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin, which shut down on Monday as well. Disneyland has yet to specify when these attractions will be back in action.
Other iconic attractions at the storied theme park remain unavailable too.
Over at Disney California Adventure, the Grizzly River Run has been non-operational since January for its routine seasonal updates, and Jumpin’ Jellyfish is also currently out of service.
Meanwhile, the classic Disneyland Park ride Jungle Cruise has been closed since Feb. 17.
In total, at least five major attractions across both parks are currently unavailable to visitors.
The Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival, running through April 27, draws big crowds to the park for limited-time eats, drinks and entertainment. Disney has stressed the ride closures are part of routine maintenance and not influenced by the festival.
The Anaheim theme park cycles its attractions through seasonal refurbishments to keep the park in tip-top shape, even if the timing hits during busy period.
