SHOPPERS have been warned to immediately stop using certain ladders sold at Home Depot over risk of serious injury and death.

Around 122,250 multi-purpose ladders sold at the DIY retailer have been pulled from shelves after a series of reported injuries.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall on August 14.

It affects the Werner 20′ and 24′ Multi-Max Pro Multi-Purpose Ladders.

“The ladders’ locking mechanism can jam and not fully lock into place, posing a fall hazard,” the CPSC warned.

The issue was discovered after a number of consumers reported injuries when using the ladders.

“The firm has received 18 reports of falls, including 14 reports of injuries resulting in bruising, lacerations, head injuries, and fractures to the wrist, leg, and ribs,” the CPSC reported.

According to the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, around 300 Americans die each year from falling off ladders.

Shoppers who find they have a recalled ladder must immediately discontinue use.

They can apply for a full refund with Werner by registering here.

There will be full details on how to safely dispose of the ladder and sending proof of disposal.

The recalled ladders were sold at Home Depot stores across the country and online.

Shoppers who bought one between November 2021 and February 2024 could be affected.

The average prices of the ladders were between $200 and $281, per the CPSC.

Is my ladder part of the recall?

Consumers must inspect their ladders for specific details to see if they are part of the recall.

They will be silver with a blue top and blue label fixed to the side rail as well as a long black rope at the back.

The blue sticker will feature an oval with “Werner” written inside it next to “MULTI MAX PRO”.

There will also be the size and model number.

The following model numbers are affected: ALMP-20IAA and ALMP-24IAA.

Anyone with concerns or questions about the recall can contact Werner between Monday and Friday from 8:30 am to 6pm on 888-624-1907.

Or an email can be sent to ladder@realtimeresults.net.

Additionally, customers of Walmart, Target, and Amazon have been alerted about the recall of a popular hair styling tool that has been withdrawn from sale due to concerns it could lead to electric shocks and electrocution.
