Hiker stumbles on human skull in iconic desert as mystery grows and detectives open homicide probe

A chilling find in the isolated deserts of Southern California has initiated a murder inquiry after a hiker uncovered a human skull.

Deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched around 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday to a desolate region close to Adobe Road and Baseline Road in Twentynine Palms following the report of the gruesome discovery.

Officials have indicated that the skull seems to belong to an adult and may have been exposed to the harsh desert conditions for a significant duration.
